Patrick Earl Hammie was born in New Haven, Connecticut, 1981. He is an artist best known for his monumental portraits related primarily to themes of identity, history, and narrative. Hammie holds a BA from Coker College and an MFA the University of Connecticut, and is currently an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
