Ryan Shultz is a Portland born, American painter who became widely known from the 2010 TV series The Next Great Artist. Originally a self taught artist, Shultz received his bachelor’s degree from The American Academy of Art in 2005, and his M.F.A. from Northwestern University in 2009. Ryan uses classical oil painting techniques to create modern day pieces capturing his generation. Since high school, he has lived solely off his art through prize money, commissions and teaching private art lessons. Currently he is teaching private art lessons in the Chicagoland area. The lessons are one-on-one and are designed around the students own interests, using the media of their choice and no previous artistic training is required.
