Brigitte Yoshiko Pruchnow is a painter located in Munich, Germany. She is a graduate of the Munich Film Academy, and has also studied Chinese and Japanese traditional painting and calligraphy. She is making paintings mostly with acrylic on canvas, whereas in her drawings she experiments with different papers and techniques. Her work revolves mostly around the matter of perception as she aims to sharpen the senses of the viewer for what surrounds him, especially the play between light and shadow. Therefore she is particularly interested in objects that are either moving or light reflective such as water, metal, glass, etc. And while trying to capture an everyday maybe not so prominent or very fugitive moment, throughout the slow process of painting, she tries to raise awareness for that moment and make it an either calming and centering experience or one that conveys the thrill and excitement of being alive.
