Originally from Houston, artist Lindsay Peyton spent her early years primarily in rural Texas towns as well as north in Pennsylvania. Clay, crayons, pencils and paints were a constant presence in her early childhood, and in high school, Peyton took an oil painting class. She was smitten. She then tried darkroom photography. After earning her Bachelor of Journalism degree in Photojournalism from the University of Texas at Austin, Peyton has worked as a creative director, an assistant art teacher and a gallery director. She has also served as a member of the Spacetaker artist advisory board and the Houston Arts and Culture board. Peyton currently works as the principal of Cadence Enterprise, a creative firm specializing in public relations and artist consultation services. She exhibits regularly and participates in juried shows.
In her own words:
I believe that art is meant to be felt – and that a painting should not require an explanation. If a painting can connect directly with an audience, then it is successful. That is what I am constantly working to achieve.
