Thomas Devaux, born in 1980 in Marcq-en-Barœul, is an artistic photographer from France. Devaux became interested in photography at a young age. He experimented simultaneously with several artistic expression mediums such as photography, experimental filmmaking and painting and collages while studying film. His current work lies somewhere between photography and paintings, which allows him to pursue his research on sacred themes, profanity and isolation. He plays on the textures and articulates on the body’s erasing and reconstruction and has authored several complex and ambitious series. In each of them one can find a subtle but strong game of jousting played out between his core values and the evolutions brought about by modern technology. The inflammatory value behind the photography is not so innate. It is more a direct effort meant to mirror a fragment of a future re-composition. This is a style that is his very own. His work has been exhibited in numerous countries like South Korea, China, France, Belgium, Russia, Hong Kong, Azerbaidjan, Germany, Russia, Serbia, USA. He lives and works in Paris.
