Inga Loyeva was born in Odessa, Ukraine. Her artistic education began at the Angel Academy of Art, in Florence, Italy and continued at the New World School of the Arts, in Miami, Florida (BFA). In 2015 she earned her MFA from the Central Saint Martin’s School of the Arts, in London, England. Her work has been awarded numerous scholarships and has been exhibited in Italy, France, UK and the US.
In her own words:
For several years I made work as a product and response to deep research of the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014 after spending a week on the barricades in Kiev, interviewing and photographing both protesters and riot police alike. As the conflict grew into international media wars and subsequent escalation of tension between Nato and Russia so did my paintings. More recently I turned the spotlight on an exploration of the fears of decadence and intolerance, tools used as political technologies by both Eastern and Western empires. My recent paintings aim to explore compassion and address hegemonic practices as a way of political action and resistance.
