The cats are on their own now

“The cats are on their own now” is a short animated film by CalArts animation student Linnea Sterte. The music is by Ari Eckols.

In a post-apocalyptic world where cats are the only living survivors, how will they handle our absence?

Linnea Sterte is an animation artist from Stockholm, Sweden. She studied Animation at the Eksjö Gymnasium in Sweden and is currently studying Character Animation at the California Institute of the Arts.

  1. While I found the film beautiful, I don't think cats or any animal would miss the humans. Maybe the cats who got to live with a human, but cats turn wild without much difficulties, so I guess the only one who'd miss humans are the humans themselves. I think we like the thought of being missed, in the case of such an apocalypse.

  2. Interesting, and not at all what I thought it would be like - it was sadder
