The ARK SHELTER is a concept of mobile architecture, inspired by a Belgium based team of international architectural entrepreneurs (De Backer, Senkowski and Mikovčák) who put together their heads to rethink the way people live their fast and stressful lives. In a never-ending story of daily pressure and continuous deadlines they thought of a way to escape our stressful lives and to get back to our roots by bringing nature back. And that’s how ARK was born. A 27m2 (291 ft²) cocoon without TV, a silent place to appreciate nature we lost touch with and a cozy house to find ourselves.

ARK offers it all with a luxurious touch of life. The natural warmth of its wooden narrow space and crackling fire creates a warm and loving atmosphere where the only thing that matters is you and the people surrounding you. The philosophy behind ARK is providing a place to live in the wild, back to basics. With the sides folding open, ARK takes in the landscape and becomes an extension of nature. Its panoramic view and low impact makes it more than ever possible to enjoy camping without giving up luxury.

Where you place ARK is entirely up to you. Camping in a grass field surrounded with wild horses, drinking your coffee on a grain field in the morning sun, living in the middle of a fairytale forest or watching the sunset on a beach, it’s all within your reach. Wherever your imagination takes you, ARK can make it happen. It is placed in a very mobile way since no fixed foundations are used. For that reason the destination of your cocoon is never totally locked. With its zero impact, ARK leaves the surrounding nature untouched. Its minimalistic design doesn’t have the ambition to stand out, but rather wants to merge into the landscape. Its furniture is uniquely designed for the shelter and crafted from the same wood as used on the walls, floor and ceiling, in order to create a warm and cozy atmosphere, keeping simple elegance high standards. The wood weíve chosen to construct the cabin is sustainable and durable, so ARK will last a lifetime. The best part however, is that you don’t need to worry about equipment. ARK takes care of all, providing everything from cooking utensils to towels and bed linings. By collecting rainwater and using wind power for electricity production ARK becomes a self-supporting house, an ecological shelter that is sustainable and totally independent with respect for surrounding nature.
