“As long as it takes” is a short animated documentary created by animator Wiep Teeuwisse in collaboration with documentary maker Lotte van Gaalen. The sound design is by Leleane Lindenaar.
A man lost in thought re-experiences the confusion he felt when the death of his mother received an unexpected turn.
After studying audiovisual media at the Utrecht School of the Arts, Lotte van Gaalen chose to tell people’s real stories in images, sound and text inspired by their experiences, emotions, desires and twisted thoughts. She has created documentaries for the VPRO-podcast “Het leven, een gebruiksaanwijzing”, corporate pieces for companies and institutions as well as the documentary “Moederskind”, which was broadcasted by NTR. She also works for Woord, home of some of the finest radio stories from the Dutch public broadcaster. Wiep Teeuwisse is a film director/animator who graduated last year from the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht, with her animation “Depart at 22”, which won the award for best student film at Annecy this year. Her animation “Facing the news” screened at several international filmfestivals and won the Shortcutz Award for best animation.
As long as it takes was produced by Randy Vermeulen and Vossenfilms, a young production company focused on the development of documentaries by young and talented filmmakers that tell small, personal, but also universal stories, in surprising ways.
The film premiered on Mind Shakes where you can also read an interview with the creators.
