Since the beginning, Reine Paradi’s world has been vibrant and colorful. Growing up in the countryside of South France, Paradis cultivated her awareness and imagination alongside her picturesque surroundings. After having studied art in Paris, Paradis moved to Los Angeles in 2012. She instantly felt inspired by the new landscape and started developing “Jungle”; her first photographic series where she constructs narrative photographs staging herself as the central figure, dressed in orange and shown interacting in surreal hypersaturated color filled landscapes. “Jungle” was photographed in Los Angeles, Palm Springs and NYC, however some of the locations were a bit more exotic, like a mountain glacier, a desert gulch, and a lake inside of a crater; making each discovery a story in and of itself. Paradis plans a scene based on the location and then designs the set up and even handmakes the accompanying costumes, accessories and origami. Once the scene is visualized in its entirety, she makes sketches and paints the scene for a reference when on location photographing the final scene. Each scene is an adventure and a story to remember. Paradis currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
In her own words:
Shot throughout America, the series Jungle takes us on an introspective journey across a symbolic and chromatic world, projected above the limit of reality and imagination. Each scene is imagined and conceptualized before shooting in real locations. All items are meticulously designed and prepared ahead according to the initial vision of the scene.
