“A rather lovely thing” is a lovely animated short created by Cesar Martinez for a school initiative. The visuals are supported by “I Monster’s” song “Heaven” from the album “Neveroddoreven“.
A little story about love & adventure.
Cesar Martinez is a Mexican Art director based in Vancouver. He describes himself as an introvert with a very dark sense of humour and he truly believes that there is nothing more vitalising, powerful, raw and electrifying than punk/garage music from the 60’s and 70’s. He created the film a couple of years ago, while undergoing through a series of changes in his personal and professional life.
In his own words:
It was very difficult to move into a new place with no friends nor family to try to reach new professional goals. This project is a little part of that journey that left me some awesome experiences and so much stories to tell. I made this project as therapy to overcome the hard times but during the process and after just a few days I realised that there was so much beauty around me, so much too see and so much to learn. It´s funny how fast it passed thanks to all my awesome new friends and the support of my old ones and my family of course. As it says in the video, this project is dedicated to all my lovely friends at VFS and all the talented people that I met during the process.
